“Ahilik And Professional Ethics”
Every nation has its ups and downs from time to time. Ahilik system is one of the organizations that contributed to the resurrection of the Turkish nation in the 13th-14th century. And played the most important role in the development of profession and trade with the Turkification and Islamization of Anatolia, which is our own culture.
The basic rule of the Ahilik is to live on sweat. They are the principles of cooperation and maintaining community order. The Ahi organization, which changed over time, began to become guilds in the 17th century. During the fall of the Ottoman Empire, it completely disintegrated and disappeared into the guilds. The Ahi organizations, which remained in small numbers, were closed in 1925.
However, the influence of the Ahi’s rules and ideals regarding trade has continued to this day in areas such as cooperatives, insurance and banking systems. It is possible to see the effect of Ahilik to the present day in customs such as “imece”, which is still seen in rural areas. Ahilik is an institution of “professional” character spread throughout the Turkish provinces. These troops have tried to establish solidarity and cooperation among people, especially their members.
Ahilik system, a Turkish interpretation that draws its inspiration from Islam, is integrated with the ideal of “two days equal” of our beloved Prophet, whose message pierces the ages to make our people have a profession with the understanding that “art is a golden bracelet”
