Description

“Mathnawi Translation”

His mother is Mümine Hatun, the daughter of Rükneddin, Emir of Belh; His paternal grandmother was the Persian Princess, Melike-i Cihan Emetullah Sultan, from the Khwarazmshahs dynasty.

His father, Muhammed Bahaeddin Veled, known as the “sultan of scholars”; His grandfather was Hüseyin Hatibi, the son of Ahmed Hatibi. The sources explain that his father was given the title of Sultanü’l-Ulema with Turkish traditions. His ethnic origin is controversial; Persian, Tajik or TurkishThere are opinions that it is.

Mevlânâ is the  son of Bahaeddin Veled, who taught in the city of Belh, one of the Islamic cultural centers of the period, and  was known as Sultan-ül Ulema (Sultan of Scholars). Mevlana came under the spiritual discipline of Seyyid Burhaneddin, who came to Konya in 1232, one year after the death of his father Bahaeddin Veled, and served him for nine years. He died in 1273.

Mevlânâ  gave his name as Muhammed bin Muhammed bin Hüseyin el-Belhî in his work called Mesnevi . The names of Muhammad in here are the names of his father and grandfather, and Belhi is relative to Belh, the city where he was born. His nickname is Celaleddin. The title “Mevlânâ” meaning “our master” was uttered in order to glorify him. Another nickname, Hudâvendigar, was given to Mevlânâ by his father and it means “sultan”. Mevlana is called Belhi in relation to the city where he was born, and he is also called Rumi in relation to Anatolia, where he lives. He was also known as Molla Hünkar and Mollâ-yı Rûm due to his professorship.
